THE PROPHET ZECHARIAH SEES FOUR CHARIOTS FROM GOD
GOD PLACES JUDGMENT ON THE FOUR BEASTS OF DANIEL;
THE FINAL JUDGMENT IS ON THE KINGDOM SOUTH OF JERUSALEM--MECCA
Zechariah tells us the fourth and terrible kingdom in Daniel's visions is SOUTH of Jerusalem. This is Mecca. The Book of Zechariah contains more than a dozen prophetic warnings about Islam and Baal worship. The prophetic warnings were given by Zechariah pertaining to Islam and Baal worship, and only rank behind Daniel and Revelation in a total number of Islamic prophecies.
Zechariah was written in 520 BC, some 19 years after Babylon fell to the Mede-Persians in 539 BC. When Babylon fell Baal was thrown in the Abyss by God.
- The “handwriting on the wall” to Belshazzar was in 539 BC (Daniel chapter 5)
- "Belshazzar" means "Bel guards the king."
- Bel is Baal. Bel is Aramaic and Baal is Hebrew.
- The king before Belshazzar was his father; Labashi-Marduk, (meaning: "the King and Marduk")
- Marduk is another name for Bel or Baal.
- Babylon fell that night of Daniel's handwriting, and Belshazzar was killed
- As Babylon fell, Bel was punished (Jeremiah 51:44 and Isaiah 14:12-17)
To understand what Zechariah is telling us, we must understand Daniel chapters 5 and 7. In Daniel chapter 7, the prophet Daniel saw four great beasts come from the sea--the spiritual world.
Daniel 7:1-3 (ESV) In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel saw a dream and visions of his head as he lay in his bed. Then he wrote down the dream and told the sum of the matter. Daniel declared, “I saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea. And four great beasts came up out of the sea, different from one another." When we study Zechariah chapter six, we can understand that God is telling us the fourth kingdom is SOUTH of Jerusalem. This is Mecca, the "great city" of Revelation 17-18 in the desert wilderness on seven mountains. Mecca is nearly due south of Jerusalem. Rome is in the opposite direction!
Using Jerusalem as a central location, Rome is to the West-Northwest at 305 degrees. Rome is in the opposite direction of the fourth judgment. Mecca is to the South-Southwest at 157 degrees. Only Mecca fits Zechariah's prophecy of judgment on the fourth and terrible kingdom.
"THE DAPPLED ONES GO TOWARDS THE SOUTH COUNTRY"
In this discussion, we will focus on the prophecies of the four chariots of the judgment given by Zechariah in chapter 6:1-8.
The prophet Zechariah (verses 1-3) sees four chariots of judgment. The colors are similar to those of the four Islamic horsemen of Revelation chapter 6 but are not the same. Unlike the four Islamic horsemen, these four that Zechariah sees are from God.
Zechariah 6:1-3 (ESV) Again I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, four chariots came out from between two mountains. And the mountains were mountains of bronze. The first chariot had red horses, the second black horses, the third white horses, and the fourth chariot dappled horses—all of them strong.
Zechariah (verses 4-5) sees them stand before the Lord God Almighty. These are from God. They execute God’s judgment.
Zechariah 6:4-5 (ESV) Then I answered and said to the angel who talked with me, “What are these, my lord?” And the angel answered and said to me, “These are going out to the four winds of heaven, after presenting themselves before the Lord of all the earth.”
Zechariah (verse 6) sees the first three chariots (red, black and white horses) subdue the first three beasts of Daniel. These were Babylon (lion), Mede-Persia (bear), and the Seleucid Greek (leopard) empires. Zechariah sees them all attack to the “north country”, the geographic location of the first three empires of Daniel’s visions. But the fourth one Daniel saw is “different.”
Daniel 7:7 (ESV) After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, terrifying and dreadful and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth; it devoured and broke in pieces and stamped what was left with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns.
Zechariah (verse 6) does not describe the red horse chariot, the first one, since Babylon had already fallen some 19 years earlier. The last ones, the fourth dappled ones, “go toward the south country.”
Zechariah 6:6 (ESV) The chariot with the black horses goes toward the north country, the white ones go after them, and the dappled ones go toward the south country.”
Zechariah (verses 7-8) knows Babylon alone of the four great world kingdoms had already been punished; therefore, in its case alone does God now says His anger is satisfied. The fourth kingdom of Revelation is “Mystery Babylon”, and the beast is Baal released from the Abyss.
Zechariah 6:7-8 (ESV) When the strong horses came out, they were impatient to go and patrol the earth. And he said, “Go, patrol the earth.” So they patrolled the earth. Then he cried to me, “Behold, those who go toward the north country have set my Spirit at rest in the north country.” Revelation 17:8 (ESV) The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit [Abyss] and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come.
Zechariah points to many Revelation Islamic prophecies. Once understood, the Book of Revelation is the most important Book in the New Testament for all the world today.
